Manifest Your Dreams to Live Your Best Life
Do you have trouble going from an idea to the actual end result that you desire? Manifesting your dreams and goals can seem impossible, or like a lofty idea at best, sometimes. Especially the ideas you have that seem so far beyond your reach. Those are usually the ones that you never even take a step towards. It seems so hard to imagine yourself doing or being this thing, that you get paralyzed by fear. Have you ever experienced desiring something so much, but not taking action because you just can’t imagine how you’d get from here to there?
Identify Your Goals and Dreams
I love being able to choose a goal that seems unattainable and actually get there and feel that completion. Nothing is beyond your reach, the only limits you have are those you believe. Ok, within reason
“As you think, so shall you become”
-Bruce Lee
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”
-Proverbs 23:7
When I was in high school, I went through a little bit of a “rough patch”, got sidetracked you might say! Then I got the idea in my head that I needed to quit school, and homeschool for a bit or get a GED, and start college early. In my mind, the situation I was in just wasn’t right for me, and I needed a way out. Well, anyone that knows me knows that once I get an idea in my mind, I don’t stop until I reach my goal. I hate to say I’m stubborn, but hey! I was determined, yes that sounds much better.
Follow Your Intuition
There were tons of reasons why this seemed like a bad idea to my family and friends. Obvious reasons to anybody really, like quitting high school, having to homeschool myself, no transportation to attend college at that point, being so young. I had that feeling inside that it was right for me though, and I listened to my intuition. Sometimes what you’re thinking of doing doesn’t make sense to others, and that’s ok. Always follow your intuition, and if you’re having trouble learning how to tune into that, check out my post, How to Find and Follow Your Intuition for some pointers.
I had a list I made that had my goals on it. I wanted to finish high school early (AKA quit and obtain a diploma in some fashion), start college early and attain my doctorate. It seemed pretty far off for someone that had basically dropped out of high school. I first thought of what I wanted to do, visualized, then actually acted as if what I wanted to happen was in process. If someone asked what grade I was in or what I was doing, I would confidently say when I was starting college and what I was studying.
Seek Opportunity, Navigate Obstacles
That chapter of life had many twists and turns that I navigated as I went, but I viewed those obstacles as opportunities. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Someone told me I couldn’t attend a university with a non-traditional high school diploma. Yes, but I could attain a degree at a community college and then get into a university to further my education.
Wherever there was a no, I found a way for a yes, even if it looked a little different than I first imagined. The challenges that came up (oh, and there were plenty!) weren’t ever a deal breaker for me. I knew that I could find a way to keep on toward my dreams. Today, I do hold that doctorate that I set out to attain. It’s in a different field, because sometimes dreams change along the way! It’s ok to evolve as a person and gain new dreams and desires. My goals today are so different from that time in my life, and that’s what keeps life extraordinary.
You have all that you need right now to begin manifesting in your life. Let your goals and dreams come to life with a few easy steps.
1. Visualize-Imagine It
Set aside time each day to visualize what you’re wanting to manifest in your life. Before bed or early in the morning are perfect times to plant these seeds in your mind. Your thoughts are so powerful, your brain will carry out what you think about repeatedly. Really imagine yourself doing what you’re wanting to manifest. Don’t just think the thought, oh I want to talk to my boss about starting a new project and advancing my career. Actually imagine yourself making an appointment with your boss and walking to their office, sitting down, and discussing what you’d like. The more detail, the better. Bring it all to a vivid scene in your mind.
2. Self actualize-Feel It
Now that you have the scene in your mind, feel it. Abraham Maslow described self-actualization by saying “What a man can be, he must be”. Feeling that you are healthy, that you have that promotion, or that you’re with the person that’s been on your mind is an important tool in manifesting. The more you feel that you have that new career, the more opportunities you’ll see and seek out to attain this dream. Feel that you’re a healthy person, and watch yourself look for healthy food choices and exercise opportunities to fulfill this feeling.
3. Take a step-Do it
Your brain will already be at work seeking opportunities to fulfill the thoughts and feelings that have been created in your mind. Conscious action is also necessary, though! You can think and feel it all day long, but without taking a step in the direction of your dreams, you will not get there. Don’t overthink it, don’t linger in hesitation, just do it! Make the call, set up the meeting, sign up for the class, clear the junk food out of the house. Take one step at a time in the direction of your dream, and suddenly it won’t seem so unattainable. All the little things add up, the details do matter and will change you into your future self. Put in the work today to live your dream tomorrow.
I have used these steps in so many areas of my life successfully, and I encourage you to give it a try and to stick with it! As always, feel free to email me at hannahallison@positivelyzen.com with any questions or concerns! Cheers to a zen mind and life!
